Who We Are

Finance Insights was formed to increase financial literacy for non-financial learners. We do this via a streamlined in-person interactive training module entitled “Understanding Financial Statements for Non-Financial Professionals”. It is designed to instill a basic working knowledge of Balance Sheets, Income Statements and their functionality.

Why is this Important?

All executive and customer decisions consider their impacts on Balance Sheets and Income Statements. Meanwhile, most companies’ employees don’t know how to read financial statements. As a result, employee interactions with customers and management are less productive. The Finance Insights course reduces this costly disconnect by enabling employees to comprehend financial statements quickly and easily with a deeper appreciation for their relevance to organizational objectives.

Why Choose FinancE Insights?

Finance Insights delivers course attendees context, relevance and understanding for financial statement language commonly used in business management. Topics include;

  • Assets, Liabilities and Equity

  • Liquidity and Working Capital

  • Revenue, Gross Profit, Operating Profit , Net Profit and how they pertain to

    • EBITDA and Cash Flow

    • Earnings per Share and Dividend Return

Business jargon such as top line, bottom line, SG&A, leverage, payables and solvency are also put into perspective. In addition,

  • Attendees leave the course with critical new knowledge.

  • Employers gain employees with better focus on executive and customer objectives.

  • Academic institutions produce students with enhanced job market skills.

The financial statement module is a perfect addition to any organization’s local, regional or national training sessions for employees and business partners. Orientation programs which include this module focus new employees on employers’ financial priorities and sustainability. Training can be presented at a single event or to breakout groups over an extended schedule. Course content can be customized to include and emphasize client’s desired messaging.

Use Cases

- Sales and marketing team members will emphasize their products’ revenue potential and/or cost savings and numerically explain their impacts on customer financial statements.

- Department heads and their staffs will better understand, appreciate and focus on budget goals established by senior management.

- R&D engineers and software developers will think about inventing products having appealing revenue generating and cost saving features.

- Line personnel will think about individual contributions to cost saving and revenue increasing activities that will both improve company performance and support personal bonus requests.

- Graduating students will be equipped with financial terminology that positions them to speak more effectively with potential employers.

Testimonials

As a public company CFO for 18 years, I can attest Tony was a huge part of our company’s success. He will do a fabulous job training your non-Finance employees on the basics of a P&L and BS. This course will not make you an accountant, but it will make you a better decision maker.

Elisha Wade Finney - Member of the Board at Mettler-Toledo, Inc., Audit Committee Chair

The training from Finance Insights was valuable form start to finish! The brief session took seemingly complex material and distilled it down for those of us who missed out on accounting courses in college. Finally understanding the basics is one thing, but for sales teams there’s a bonus. Tony is a dynamic and collaborative trainer who has the rare ability to highlight where financial stakeholders are focusing and why. I’ve already leveraged the basics he covered in my role in IT sales, and it has made me more informed, impactful and valuable in my accounts. I’d recommend Finance Insights to any sellers looking to up their game and relevance.

Dan Perkins - Senior Client Director at AHEAD

Finance Insights’ presentation was very helpful and informative. Tony is an engaging speaker who makes a potentially dry topic come alive. Tony distilled a college course into one hour and has mastered the art of making financial statements clear to non-financial professionals.

Whether you work for a Fortune 500 company, you're a small business owner, or you're someone who wants to read financial statements for investing purposes, Tony's engaging, simple, and accessible presentation is perfect. It was just the right amount of information for me. And the knowledge I now have, thanks to Tony, will help me better understand my investing positions and, no doubt, inform my business decisions. I highly recommend this program.
